Low-cost, Domestic Supplies of Chemicals, Fuels, and Materials through Valorization of Sustainable Resources
Tuesday, November 17 · 7 PM
2630 Memorial Union
Hosted by Iowa State University
Speaker: Xianglan Bai This lecture explores how scientists are turning things we usually throw away, like plant waste, old plastics, and carbon dioxide, into useful fuels, chemicals, and materials. One key tool is plasma, a highly energized gas (the same kind of state found in lightning or neon signs), which can be switched on only when needed and uses little energy.
