About Blackstone

From the mid-1880s, well-known architects built stone and brick mansions here as Omaha's wealthy moved west from North Omaha. After the 1929 crash many of the big houses became boarding houses and funeral homes, and by the mid-1940s Farnam Street was known as "Funeral Home Row."
