About Columbus
Columbus was settled in 1856 by a town company named for Columbus, Ohio, chosen for its spot on the expected transcontinental railroad route. Promoter George Francis Train bought hundreds of lots, moved a hotel in from a rival town site, and kept a room reserved for the President, pitching Columbus as a future national capital.
