SUMMARY:Scholars' Convocation: Caleb Elfenbein
LOCATION:Joe Rosenfield '25 Center (JRC 101): 1115 8th Ave\, Grinnell\, I
 A 50112
DESCRIPTION:Being alive can be pretty overwhelming. The beauty we experie
nce can make this overwhelm feel ecstatic and joyful. The suffering we ex
perience can make this overwhelm feel enervating and painful. Much of the
time\, being alive can also leave us simply feeling whelmed. The humanit
ies are a living record of our attempts to make sense of these varieties
of our experience\, the whelm and the overwhelm.\n\nHosted by Grinnell Co
