About Saratoga
Beadle named the town after his hometown, Saratoga Springs, New York, hoping a local sulphur spring would draw visitors the same way. Fifty-four houses went up in Saratoga between April and August 1857, faster than Omaha City had grown, and a steamboat landing at Saratoga Bend brought settlers across the Missouri.
