About Yutan

Long before the town, the Oto had a village on the Platte just south of here; a 1777 Spanish letter probably refers to it, and in 1833 it hosted a treaty among the Oto, Pawnee and Delaware. The town is named for Itan (Ietan), chief of the Oto from about 1830 until 1837.
