About Glyndon
Glyndon began in 1872, when the railroad was built to this spot and the town was laid out, and a post office opened that same year. It takes its name from Howard Glyndon, the pen name of Laura Redden Searing, a deaf poet and journalist of the 1800s. Big wheat farms soon worked the land around it, like the G.S. Barnes and Company farm, photographed at harvest time around 1878. Today Glyndon sits on U.S. Highway 10 about 10 miles east of Fargo, Amtrak's Empire Builder rolls through on the BNSF tracks, and the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton high school is here in town.
