About Dilworth
Dilworth began in 1883 as a railroad siding when the Northern Pacific Railroad reached this spot just east of Moorhead. It was first called Richardson, then renamed for Joseph Dilworth, a railroad official. The railroad built its depot in 1906, and many Italian immigrants settled here, so the town was often called Little Italy. It became a village in 1911 and is now part of the Fargo-Moorhead area, with a big BNSF rail yard and about 4,600 people.
