About Moorhead

Moorhead was laid out in 1871 on the Red River and named for William Galloway Moorhead, a Northern Pacific Railway official. It sits on the flat floor of ancient Lake Agassiz and is one half of the Fargo-Moorhead area. Neighbors know it for Concordia College, Minnesota State University Moorhead, and the Hjemkomst Center with its Viking ship. Through the year there is a Celtic festival in March, summer RiverArts evenings and Greater Moorhead Days in September.
