About Breezy Point
Breezy Point began as a resort on Pelican Lake, on land that magazine publisher Wilford Fawcett, known as Captain Billy, bought around 1920 and filled with cottages and a big log lodge. As the resort community grew, it became the village of Pelican Lakes in 1939 and took the name Breezy Point in 1969. Fawcett's own log home, built of Norway pine on a point in Breezy Point Bay, is on the National Register of Historic Places. Today it is a lake town in the Brainerd Lakes Area that more than doubled in size between 2000 and 2010.
