About Crosslake
Crosslake grew up in the late 1800s after the Pine River Dam was built in 1885, when logging drew the first families to the area. It began as Watertown Township, joined Crow Wing County in 1887, and became the City of Crosslake in 1974. The town sits among the lakes of the Brainerd Lakes Area, and nearly a third of its area is water. Across from the dam, the Crosslake Area Historical Society keeps a Historic Log Village of old log buildings, open free in summer. Today people come for the lakes, the dam's recreation area and campground, and village programs like the fall Cider and Candlelight Tour.
