About Adams
Adams grew up around the Chicago and North Western Railway, which made the town a stop halfway between Chicago and the Twin Cities. It was first called South Friendship, but people here did not like that name, so the railroad changed it to the short name Adams. Railroad jobs brought families and businesses, the town became a village, and in 1926 it became a city. Today Adams shares its border and its school district with the village of Friendship, and people gather downtown on Main Street for free movies at the Adams Community Theatre.
