About Albany
Albany is a small city in Stearns County, west of St. Cloud, that people call the place where friendly paths cross. Neighbors first asked to become a town in 1888, and Albany was incorporated in 1890. The railroad once owned the land on one side of Railroad Avenue, so the shops grew up on the north side of the street, and that old rail line is now the paved Lake Wobegon Trail. Today families come out for Heritage Day each August, Trunk or Treat downtown, and a drive-through holiday light show at the Stearns County Pioneer Grounds.
