About Campbellsport
Campbellsport grew up in the rolling hills of the Northern Kettle Moraine and took its name from Stuart Campbell, an early settler; people once called it Campbell's Port or West New Cassel. It became a village in 1902 and took in the older village of New Cassel next door. The Milwaukee River runs along the east side of town, and the old railroad line on the west side is now part of the Eisenbahn State Trail, named for the German word for railroad. Today families meet at Fireman's Park and Columbus Parc, cheer for the Campbellsport Cougars, and hunt for Easter bags at the chamber's free spring hunt, which has run for more than 20 years.
