About Chatfield
Chatfield was founded in 1853 by Andrew Twiford and named for Judge Andrew Chatfield. Settlers from New England built such a successful town that it was nicknamed the Chosen Valley. Mill Creek, a trout stream, and the North Branch of the Root River run through it, and people call it the Gateway to Bluff Country. Today about 3,000 people live there, with Western Days each August, a brass band music library and an arts center in town.
