About Glendale

Long before farms came, Woodland-era people built earthen effigy and burial mounds along the Milwaukee River, and a few still survive in Kletzsch Park. German and other immigrant farmers settled this part of the Town of Milwaukee in the 1800s, and Good Hope grew up around a stagecoach inn and post office on Green Bay Road. In 1872 the town built a simple wooden hall for its meetings, and it still stands by the river as a small museum. Glendale became a city in 1950 and grew fast, and today it mixes neighborhoods, river parks, a business park and Nicolet High School.
