About Hustisford
Hustisford takes its name from John Hustis, a pioneer settler remembered as the village's founder and leading citizen. The village was incorporated around 1870, and from the middle of the 1800s it was home to many German immigrants; one church, Bethany Lutheran, still held services in German in the 1970s. Hustis's 1857 Greek Revival house was saved by the local historical society and is now a museum on the National Register. Today Lake Sinissippi on the village's north edge draws people out year-round, with ice racing on winter Sundays, and every New Year's Day the fire department leads the Toilet Bowl parade and football game.
