About Juneau
Juneau was founded in 1845 by Martin Rich and William Dennis, and a year later it became the seat of Dodge County. It was first called Victory and then Dodge Center before taking the name Juneau in 1852, for the Juneau family of early Wisconsin. The very first Dodge County Fair was held here in 1853, and the county's offices still fill the center of town, from the 1930s Moderne administration building to the courthouse built in 1999 and 2000. Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Addie Joss grew up in Juneau. Today all of the Dodgeland district's students learn on one campus in town, and the public library on Fairfield Avenue hosts summer reading and the town's trick-or-treating.
