About Johnson Creek
Johnson Creek grew up where the railroad crosses a small creek just before it joins the Rock River, and the creek was named for Timothy Johnson, its first settler. The railroad stop was called Belleville until 1872, when it took the Johnson Creek name its post office had always used. Today the village sits at Interstate 94 and Highway 26, halfway between Milwaukee and Madison, and its school campus is built from round domes. Families walk and paddle at Crossroads Landing Park on the Rock River, ride the Glacial Drumlin State Trail, and gather at Veterans Park for the Christmas tree lighting.
