About Kenyon
Kenyon was founded in 1856 along the North Fork of the Zumbro River and was named after Kenyon College. A local miller, Martin T. Gunderson, was the area's first industrialist and brought electric lights to town; his 1895 house still stands on Gunderson Boulevard. Kenyon is known for the Boulevard of Roses on its main street, which gives its name to Rosefest each August. The public library, begun in 1901 by the Round Table Club with just three books, now shares a building with City Hall and runs story times and programs all year.
