About Zumbrota
Zumbrota sits on the North Fork of the Zumbro River and was claimed as a town in 1856. Its name seems to come from the French name of the river joined with a Dakota word for village. It is best known for its covered bridge from 1869, the last working covered bridge in Minnesota, and for the first tax-supported public library in the state. Today neighbors walk the Pioneer Trail, use Covered Bridge Park, and come together each September for the Covered Bridge Festival.
