About Lake Hallie

Lake Hallie takes its name from an oxbow lake beside the Chippewa River, halfway between Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls. In 1843 the McCann brothers and Jeremiah C. Thomas built the Blue Mill here and used the lake to hold logs, and the mill, later called Badger Mills, ran until the logs gave out in the 1890s. Most of the Town of Hallie voted to become a village in 2003, and it has kept growing, to more than 7,000 neighbors by 2020. Today families fish and launch boats on the lake, fill the seven diamonds at Hallie Ball Park all summer, and stop at Peace Memorial Park, where 25 flags honor people who served.
