About Mondovi
Mondovi was laid out in 1855 in Buffalo County, and it was named after the Battle of Mondovì in Italy. It is a small farm-country city with Mirror Lake at its edge, where families fish from an accessible pier, picnic in the parks and visit the veterans memorial at Sharps Point. The Buffalo River State Trail starts here and runs 36.4 miles to Fairchild past farms, woods and marsh, for biking, hiking, horseback riding and snowmobiling. Each year brings an ice fishing contest on Mirror Lake in February, the Shamrock Shuffle downtown in March, the Friendship Day parade in summer, and the Buffalo-Pepin County Fair at the fairgrounds in town at the start of August.
