About Rosemount
Settlers from Europe, many of them Irish Catholics, began farming here after an 1851 treaty opened the land. The first post office opened in 1854, and in 1858 the township took the name Rosemount to honor that Irish heritage. A village grew up around a railroad station and grain elevator in the 1860s. Today people know Rosemount for its Irish nickname, its award-winning high school marching band and the ten-day Leprechaun Days festival.
