About Walworth
Walworth's main roads meet at its village square, where Heyer Park sits downtown. The town around it held its first meeting in 1843 in a schoolhouse on Big Foot Prairie, under the name Fontana. The village opened its first library in 1939 in a corner of the Masonic Hall, and in 1957 it put up its own library building. In 1972 a soy sauce maker from Japan opened its first American factory here, and for years Walworth was the end of the line for the Milwaukee Road's commuter train. Today families from Walworth, Fontana and Sharon share Big Foot High School and its recreation district, which hosts Christmas in My Hometown each November.
