About Kasson
Kasson sits on U.S. Highway 14 about 13 miles west of Rochester. Its land was laid out in 1865 by Jabez Hyde Kasson, who gave the town its name, and the post office opened in 1866. The railroad came through, and the town grew from about 500 people in 1870 to nearly 7,000 today. Kasson cares about its old buildings: five of them are on the National Register of Historic Places. Every August the town holds Festival in the Park, a volunteer-run weekend with a parade and fireworks.
