About Big Lake
Big Lake sits about 41 miles northwest of the Twin Cities in Sherburne County. It was first called Humboldt, and took its name from the lake in 1867. Crews cut ice there to ship to city iceboxes, and a railway station opened in 1871. Today it is a growing town with more than 20 parks, and people enjoy the summer Spud Fest.
