About Buffalo

Buffalo was platted in 1856 and named for nearby Buffalo Lake, and it became the Wright County seat. The town sits between two lakes, Buffalo Lake and Lake Pulaski, and farming has long been the base of its economy. People today walk the shore trail to Sturges Park, rent a paddle boat in summer, and fly giant kites over the ice each winter. Life-size buffalo statues decorate shops and parks around town, and a community theater and orchestra keep the arts busy.
