About Monticello
Monticello sits beside the Mississippi River in Wright County. It was platted in 1854, got its post office in 1855 and was incorporated in 1856. Wealthy Twin Cities families built summer homes here, like the 1884 Rand House on its hill. Today the town has 28 city parks, miles of trails and the Bertram Chain of Lakes, and in winter hundreds of trumpeter swans gather on the open river near Swan Park.
