About Cashton
Cashton began in 1854 as Hazen's Corners, an inn at a bend in the stagecoach road between Prairie du Chien and Black River Falls. When the railroad came through in 1879, merchant William H. H. Cash pushed for a depot and had the village laid out, and it took his name. Today the village sits in the middle of Wisconsin's largest Old Order Amish community, and Amish bakeries, greenhouses and woodshops dot the farms around it. The village is home to two big wind turbines, the state's first community wind project, and every September the Village Park hosts the Fall Festival.
