About Cedar Grove
Cedar Grove is a Dutch village in the Town of Holland, near the Lake Michigan shore in Sheboygan County. Families from the Netherlands began settling here in the late 1840s, a post office called Cedar Grove opened in 1849, and the name came from the groves of cedar trees near the town site. The first settlement sat along the lakeshore until the railroad came through, and the village grew up around the tracks. Today a full-size replica windmill stands in Windmill Park downtown, and every July Hollandfest fills Memorial Park with Klompen dancers, wooden shoe races, Dutch doughnuts called oliebollen, and a parade that starts after people in Dutch costume scrub Main Street clean.
