About Random Lake
Random Lake is a small village in southern Sheboygan County, built around the lake that shares its name. Its first home, Carl Nowack's log house, went up in 1865 on the lake's south shore; volunteers later took it apart, rebuilt it near the north entrance to the village, and opened it as a state historical site in 2006. In 1957 the Random Lake Garden Club's idea became a public library, and today Lakeview Community Library fills the old village auditorium on Butler Street. The historical society runs a museum in a 1932 grocery building on Carroll Street, with a volunteer cafe whose profits keep the museum going.
