About Elko New Market
Elko New Market is two old railroad-era towns that joined in 2007. Elko began as a railway village in 1858, and New Market began about the same time. In 1897 New Market built a red brick hotel and store that still stands on Main Street. Since 1965 the town has been home to Elko Speedway, a three-eighths-mile oval that hosts big races, drive-in movies and festivals. It lies along Interstate 35, midway between Minneapolis and Faribault.
