About Fall River
Fall River grew up along the North Fork of the Crawfish River in Columbia County, and it takes its name from Fall River, Massachusetts, the family home town of early settler Alfred Brayton. Brayton built a gristmill in 1850; when it burned in 1914, a new feed mill went up on the same spot in 1917, and it still grinds feed today. Around 1910 the village also had a creamery, later turned into a cheese factory. Today Fall River is a growing village of about 1,800 people, with more than 20 businesses and its own school, the home of the Pirates.
