About Hilbert
Hilbert is a small village in Calumet County, less than a square and a half miles, where Highways 57 and 32 pass through and Highway 114 comes to its east end. About 500 people lived here in 1900, and the 2020 census counted 1,248. The jazz trumpeter Bunny Berigan was born in Hilbert in 1908. Downtown keeps cream-brick store buildings along Main Street and an Art Deco brick village hall with round arched windows, and the village's own K-12 school district calls its small size one of its greatest strengths.
