About Kimberly
Kimberly grew up on the Fox River at a spot first called The Cedars, after an 1836 treaty with the Menominee Nation, and later Smithfield. In 1889 a paper mill opened and the town took the name of John A. Kimberly, one of the mill company's founders, and the village marked its 100th year in 2010. Its riverside Sunset Park is the heart of summer, with a sand beach and water slides, free Sunday night concerts at the amphitheater, and Paperfest, a free four-day festival of music, fireworks and family fun each July.
