About Reedsville
Reedsville started in 1854, when Judge George Reed of Manitowoc and his partner Jacob Lueps had a 56-block village laid out on their land, and for years people called it Mud Creek after the stream that runs through it. French Canadian and Menominee families were among the first here, followed by farmers from Germany, Bohemia and Ireland, and sawmills and small factories kept the village busy. Reedsville became a village in 1892, and its first village president, William Henry Noble, had been an honor guard at Abraham Lincoln's funeral. Today it is a dairy-country village where the volunteer firefighters throw a parade and picnic every June, an old Air Force jet sits in the Legion memorial park, and the Mud Creek Nature Trail winds through the woods to the elementary school.
