About Lodi
Isaac Palmer started the village of Lodi in 1846 in a glacier-carved valley, picking the spot for the water power of Spring Creek, and named it after Lodi in Italy. A sawmill ran on the creek that first year and a grist mill followed in 1850. Since 1948 the town's mascot has been Susie the Duck, a mallard that nests by the creek downtown, where families can buy dried corn to feed the ducks. Today people gather for Susie the Duck Day with its rubber duck race, the free Lodi Agricultural Fair each July, and walks on the Ice Age Trail just outside town.
