About New Hope
New Hope began as farm country in Crystal Lake Township. In 1936 farmers in the western half broke away and picked the name New Hope for their own township. As homes spread out from Minneapolis, the place grew quickly, and by 1953 it became a city. Today it is a Hennepin County suburb with a Thursday farmers market, summer shows and movies at the Performance Center, and a big aquatic park and ice arena.
