About Oak Park Heights

Oak Park Heights sits on the west bank of the St. Croix River just south of Stillwater. It was platted as Oak Park in 1857, and early settlers used the river for logging, a sawmill and a barrel company. In the 1930s the new Highway 36 brought visitors, and a log roadhouse built in 1932 still stands. The town was renamed Oak Park Heights in 1938 and incorporated in 1959. Today neighbors shop along Highway 36 and cross the St. Croix Crossing bridge into Wisconsin.
