About Oakdale

Oakdale got its name in 1858, when Arthur Stephen suggested it at the first town meeting; it comes from a grove of oak trees near the first town site. The township grew into a city in the 1970s after Oakdale and Northdale joined. Today the 45th parallel, halfway between the Equator and the North Pole, runs through the town, and Tilsen Park has it passing through home plate on the ball field.
