About Roseville

Roseville began as Rose Township in 1858, named for an early settler, Isaac Rose, and it became its own village in 1948 after fast growth. Streets here have a lot of Minnesota firsts: the state's first McDonald's in 1957 and the first Target store in 1962. Rosedale Center, a big shopping mall, opened in 1969. People also come for the John Rose Oval, the largest outdoor man-made ice sheet in North America, and for the Ramsey County Library, the busiest in the state. Central Park holds the town's yearly Wild Rice Festival.
