About Mounds View

Mounds View was named for the sand and gravel mounds in the northwest corner of the old township, now mostly gone. The township began on May 11, 1858, the day Minnesota became a state. Houses spread in the late 1930s, and the village was incorporated in 1958. Today it is a suburb of about 13,000 near I-35W, with Medtronic, a Tribute Park and a summer Festival in the Park.
