About Royalton
Royalton sits along the Platte River on U.S. Highway 10, about halfway between Little Falls and Sauk Rapids. The town was laid out in 1878 and named after Royalton, Vermont, the home town of some of its first settlers, and it became a city in 1887. Just west of town, near the Mississippi, is the Warren-McDougall Homestead, where William Warren wrote his history of the Ojibwe people in the 1800s and where an old farmhouse and barn still stand. Today Royalton is home to the Royals of Royalton Public Schools, and its city hall was the first city building in Minnesota with solar panels on its roof.
