About Watertown
Watertown was platted in 1858 and took its name from the township, which was named for the many lakes and ponds nearby. The town grew up on both sides of the South Fork of the Crow River, with Lewis Avenue as its main street. Highway 25 runs through town, and the Luce Line Trail crosses the Crow River here. About 4,659 neighbors lived in Watertown in 2020, up from about 3,000 in 2000.
