About Delano

Delano sits on the South Fork of the Crow River in Wright County, about 27 miles from downtown Minneapolis. John Ellis staked a claim here in 1855, and the village, first called Crow River, was renamed for a railroad official named Delano. It was platted in 1868 and became a town in 1876, with the Great Northern Hotel serving traders as a rest stop. Today it is known for a Fourth of July celebration that the chamber calls the state's oldest and largest, plus a small-town feel and a Taste of Delano each summer.
