About Minnetrista
Minnetrista is a mostly rural city about 23 miles west of Minneapolis, where farmland, woods and horse pastures meet the shore of Lake Minnetonka. Its name comes from Dakota words that mean water and crooked, which fits the many bays and lakes. The city includes Crane Island, where church families built summer cottages after a 1906 storm cleared the island. In 2020 the city had 8,262 people, nearly double the 4,358 it had in 2000.
