About Wrightstown
Wrightstown grew up where Hoel S. Wright set up a trading post and a ferry across the Fox River in 1833; the settlement was first called Bridgeport, and a post office named Wrightstown opened in 1852. Wright's Greek Revival house, later rebuilt by Carl Mueller, still stands on Washington Street as the town's history museum. The river runs right through the middle of the village, crossed by the Highway 96 bridge. These days families come downtown to the River District for the fall festival and car show, line the streets for the Christmas parade, and catch a concert in the old St. John church that is now Turner Street Music Hall.
