About Allouez

Allouez takes its name from Claude-Jean Allouez, a French Jesuit missionary. In 1824 Judge James Doty picked this stretch of the Fox River for a courthouse town he called Menomineeville, and in 1874 Allouez split off from the Town of Bellevue. Today it is a leafy village of tree-lined streets between Green Bay and De Pere, with the Fox River on its west side and the East River on its east. Families bike the Fox River State Trail, play ball and skate at Green Isle Park, and step back in time at Heritage Hill State Historical Park, a hilltop outdoor museum of old buildings with guides in period dress.
