About Becker

Becker sits in Sherburne County between the Mississippi and Elk Rivers, about 46 miles northwest of Minneapolis. It was settled in 1855 and named for state legislator George Loomis Becker. A post office opened in 1870 and the town was incorporated in 1904. Its big neighbor is the Sherco power plant, the largest in the state, which helps keep local property taxes low. Families use the nine city parks, the 27-hole Pebble Creek golf course and the library inside the community center.
